This past few months, I have seen so many new traffic exchange programs popping up everywhere that some of them are so cheesy, you can't expect me to take them seriously. On the other hand, because they are so new, they are desperate to attract new members and some owners are spending thousands of dollars to promote their program(s) so they are giving away unbelievable prizes just to stay competitive. Running a referral contest is a proven tactic to get their brand recognized and to attract more active members.
So how do you win a referral contest in traffic exchange programs? even if you are a newbie?
Simple, you promote like there's no tomorrow! but what if you are new to the industry, how do you get an edge over the pros?
You need to spend some money, time and whatever available tools and resources you have in your marketing arsenal. Here are some tips.
1. If you have an opt-in list, newsletter or downline in programs where you can email them and let them know about the current referral contest. Give details as to why they should join. There are TE programs such as Webcentresurf.com where you can email their entire members for under $10 bucks every single month which is really cheap. They have over 14,000 members.
2. You can buy ad spot in newsletters such as Hit Exchange News. You can buy banner ads at Netmarketing forum where most TE junkies and owners hang out. Nexusexchange.com offers free newsletter ads for all their gold members. Not only they promote their newsletter at their own exchange, but they also promote it in dozen other traffic exchange programs for maximum exposure. It's a great added benefit for upgraded members.
3. If you have any stored credits at any of the traffc exchange you belong to, use them. If you don't have any stored credits anywhere, buy them. Once in a while some TE will have a special sale on their credits, especially look for a 2 for 1 sale, where your purchases will be doubled.
4. You can surf various TE's (preferably 4-5 at the same time) whenever you have the time as some programs such as SavvyClicks.com or TrafficAtTheRaces.com have daily surfing competitions. If your name happens to appear on the top 10 or 20 daily surfers list, other surfers can click on it and will take them to whatever sites you're promoting. The more you surf, the more they will see your name. When joining a new TE choose your username wisely, make sure you either use your real name or your domain name, for brand recognition.
5. If you can't find the time to surf, then you can invest your money at a few traffic exchange ad co-ops such as Doctortraffic.net or Pageswirl.com's co-op or Savvyclicks ad co-op. By combining 2 or 3 TE co-ops together in your campaign, you can expect to receive between 6 to 7 thousands hits per month and your site will be prominantly advertised in over 20-30 traffic exchange programs.
6. You can visit your friends blogs or other blogs and you can leave a comment. Depending on the type of blog programs, your name is clickable if the blog is the same as the one you are registered or belong to. Remember, DON'T SPAM, only leave valid comments. Some traffic exchange programs have their own blogs now, so go and visit them and give your opionions, at the same time you are promoting yourself and your programs.
7. You can also buy ads in several well known Getpaidtoread Email programs such as Donkeymails.com or Adpaid.com where they have tons of active members. Use email ads, paid to click ads, banner ads or guaranteed signups. These types of ads are cheap for a reason. Most don't become active in whatever programs you are promoting, but they are active in GPTRE programs in general. You can go to Getpaidforums.com and ask member's and owner's opinion as to which ones are popular.
That's it. If you want to see results, you have to use most of those tactics which means you have to spend some money and put some effort in to your ad campaign if you expect to be in the top 3. Also you have to decide for yourself if the money and effort you will be putting into all this are worth it, so it's important to analyze the prizes that are being awarded in a referral contest.
Savvyclicks.com gives away $100 bucks every single month as top prize in their referral contest.
Some referral contest are easy to win because not so many people will participate and the only way to know is by checking last month's winner and see how many referrals they got. There are referral contest that only runs for 2 weeks so you have to know how fast can your ads go out and which tactics are to implement.
Winning a referral contest takes careful planning and I hope the tips I have given you will help you win a few this year or at least it will help you get a flying start over the competition.
Good luck.
Paul
