This e-book review is a two part series. The first part talks about the content of the book and the second part talks about behind the scene, stuff you don't normally see when you don't buy the book which cost $7 bucks.
When I first saw this report/ebook being promoted in one of my favorite traffic exchange, I thought to myself, jeez what's the catch, there's got to be a catch right? I mean if you want to know everything about traffic exchange programs or how to make them work so that you get full value for your hard earned money, all you have to do is visit a traffic exchange forum and start asking questions, someone will give all the answers you need.
In part 2 I will discuss more about the stuff behind the scene, all that nitty gritty, the good stuff are always behind the scene.
Anyway, here goes nothing.
E-book Title: 13 Deadly Traffic Exchange Tragedies
Author : William Brant - owner of Maxtraffic Pro.com and Carnival Clicks.com
Tragedy No. 1 - Generic Affiliate Pages
This is the first mistake that most users make. The reason is quite simple
too. People are lazy. They want the easy way out. When a program owner
offers you a replicated website, if you are like the average person, you jump
at it. Hey it is a lot easier to just grab a link and start promoting.
Tragedy No. 2 - Not Using Splash Pages
A good effective splash page will load fast, grabs your attention and it ask you to do something either to click to another page or to enter your name and email address. The problem that not too many people design their own splash page is because it is time consuming, they don't have the skills to make one or can't afford to have someone make it for them.
Because you only have a few seconds you need a way to grab your viewers attention. This can be a killer headline, humor, a graphic that just rocks. The key is it has to get the surfer’s attention at once without having to scroll down the screen.
Tragedy No. 3 - Not Using A List
Ever hear the statement that the money is in the list? Do you know why you always hear that? BECAUSE IT IS TRUE. Yeah right? There's more to building a list than meets the eye.
How many list building programs are there online, tons, too many too count, why is that? because you can make more money creating a list building programs than creating an actual list. Folks! building a list takes alot of work and alot of money.
I've spent an entire year building a list and it didn't work, all those money I spent creating that list were wasted. The learning curve in how to build and effective opt-in list is just as big as learning the whole concept of internet marketing. Building a list is like learning how to speak spanish fluently, you can't do it in a week or a month, it takes years. Even telling someone that building a list takes alot of hard work, won't sink in, because it's so hard to convey that message unless they experience it first, only then they will start to understand how hard it is.
Tragedy No.4 – Not Promoting You
When they say " Promoting You' first, it simply means putting your full name, your face, your website logo on your website all the time, this way it creates credibility and trust in the long term. Even after your website have dissappeared, but when people recognize your face or your name it builds trust.
Branding is also a double edge sword because once everyone knows you and if you do something dumb and stupid like not paying on time or you are a known cheater or lier then that can go against you too and believe me people will remember if you have done them wrong.
Tragedy No. 5 - Not Having A Plan
Ok, this is a huge problem for so many people out there especially if they are just starting out or new to traffic exchange programs. Just because you have a plan it doesn't mean you are going to be successful right away.
A few years ago I dedicated one whole year building a list using traffic exchange and other free or low cost advertising methods and guess what it didn't work.
My opt-in list didn't work but something else was working while I was executing my plan, name recognition. I don't think I could earn any recurring commissions from traffic exchange if didn't promote my face and my name before. Who knows maybe that was my plan anyway in the beginning, forget building downlines but if I can my name or face recognized now it might pay off in the future and it is.
So you need to start Planning, it can be simple and just stick to it for a year and see how it goes. If that plan doesn't work out, make another plan and so on. Along the way you will learn valuable lessons and learn from your mistakes.
Tragedy No. 6 - Not Tracking Your Results
Do you really need to track your campaign when advertising in traffic exchange programs? of course you do but only when your splash page or email capture page or ad copy is working.
Let me explain. Let's say you bought 5000 credits spread out in 5 exchange, ok and for the sake of argument you're using a splash page promoting a brand new traffic exchange. After all the credits have all been used up and you have discovered that your ad campaign produced 2 sign ups, that's when you say to yourself, "hmmm, brutal."
So you go back to the drawing board and decide to make another splash page with new ad copy and a new designed then promote it at those five same traffic exchange with 1000 credits each. After all the credits are gone and you noticed that something different is happening.
You're actually getting more sign ups popping up in your inbox, you managed to grab 7 new sign ups using your new splash page design. Then you say "Oh Cool !."
At this point do you really need a tracking tool? I don't know to tell you the truth. I mean the new splash page is working so I know that if I promote it in more traffic exchange with more credits I should get more sign ups. Ya know what that is usually the case. Maybe you can use the tracking tool to narrow your top performing exchange.
Unless those 7 sign ups came from one single traffic exchange which is rare, then maybe you need to use a pro tracking tool but for the most part, you don't need it. Some traffic exchange owners will track their own results and post it in their newsletter so if you are building your downline in a specific traffic exchange then just use the stats from that admin as a guide. You can test it by buying 1000 credits and check if you get any results.
If you are using different advertising sources such as ezines, forums and ppc ads at the same time, then yes, that's when you need to use a tracking tool. There are over 100 traffic exchange programs online but only a few are worth your effort. That's why I'm a huge fan of co-ops because I can have my ads shown all over the place without having me clicking my bones off.
This is not to say that I didn't use a tracking tool at all in traffic exchange programs but I did. At first I used a tracking tool to promote my newly designed splash page in a co-op. After singling out an exchange when I got a sign up from, I spend over $20 bucks in credits and got absolutely nothing, tried it again next month, same results, zippo, and what good did that tracking tool do for me? absolutely nothing.
Tragedy No. 8 - Bad Organization
Once you have narrowed your top performing traffic exchange, you need to find a way to get your websites seen 24 hours a day, seven days week, 12 months in a year. You can do a combination of surfing 5 exchange per surfing session and buying credits. Then the next day, another set of 5 exchange to surf and so on. Find a schedule you can stick to that fits in your daily busy schedule.
When you do your surfing session, at least surf more than 50 pages in each traffic exchange. The reason being is that when you surf 50 or more pages, some traffic exchange will give you extra bonus such as text ads, banner impressions or splash points.
Another way to get organized is saving all your passwords, usernames and refferal links in a notepad file. I know some browser have the ability to save your passwords but what happens when they don't work for some reasons, it's nice to have that back up.
Tragedy No. 9 - Not Using Text Links and Banners
In most traffic exchanges you earn text link and banner impressions for surfing. It always amazes me how many people don't use these valuable tools. ALWAYS take the time to use these valuable freebies.
Banners can be an excellent way to improve your branding too. Create a banner with your picture and some short text and link it to your squeeze page. You can generate some extra subscribers, sign ups, sales and brand your self at the same time.
Tragedy No. 10 - Ignoring Newsletters
Almost every traffic exchange that you join will have some form of a newsletter which is way for the owners to keep you updated on what's going on about that their exchange. Some newsletter allows you to unsubscribe but still be a member of their exchange and there traffic exchange that will cancel you account when you unsubscribe to their newsletter altogether.
Several owners have change their newsletter format from being a standard ezine to a blog format which is great because if its a blog, you can add comments which can give you a link back to your own blog or sites.
There are owners that if they are running a special deals such as triple bonus surf or 2 for 1 deal on credits, they will only post it on their newsletter and nowhere else.
Avoid newsletters that offers nothing but sales pitch for their friends products and services. You are getting enough junk mail as it is, you don't need more junk.
Tragedy No. 11 - Not Knowing The T.O.S
TOS stands for the terms of service.
Although most exchanges are similar there is a huge variance on what is acceptable and what is not from traffic exchange to traffic exchange. Take the time to understand what is acceptable and what is not.
If you use a rotator the vast majority of exchanges will accept them but place it in a traffic exchange that doesn't and your account may be suspended or even banned. You sure won't be happy if you just surfed for two hours and find you account suspended because you unknowingly violated the rules.
If you don't know if your websites or splash page you're promoting is violating the term of service, email the admin or call them directly, either way someone will answer your questions within 24 hours.
Tragedy No. 12 - Misusing Rotators
Rotators can be an excellent tool but the vast majority of people misuse them. Just because you can advertise everything from one URL doesn't make it a good idea. As discussed earlier you should be building a plan and just using one thing on the front end to get people into your circle of influence. If you are using a rotator use it to promote different versions of the same
thing to discover which pages convert best.
Rotators are simple marketing tool that allows to promote multiple sites using a single url. If you want to advertise five different programs at the same time using one url, rotator will do just that. If you use a rotator from certain traffic exchange program, you will also be promoting that exchange as well using your own referral links.
Pretty cool if you ask me, but some traffic exchange don't allow them because they break the frame thus interrupting your surfing session.
This is where you might want to use a tracking tool. Instead of promoting five different programs in one rotator, you can use five different splash page links from the same program and track which one converts better. Once you have found the right page that converts well, then promote it in as many top rated traffic exchange as often as possible until everyone is sick looking at it.
Tragedy No. 13 - Not Doing Due Deligence
How many times have you seen business opportunity promising you the moon, plenty for sure and most of the time they turn out to be a garbage program, a scam.
Traffic exchange programs are well known for promoting get rich quick programs and it's up to you to use your own due deligence whether it's legit or not.
Just as much as there are bad mlm programs or business opportunities, some traffic exchange programs can be just as brutal. There are forums, blogs, newsletters that talks about top rated traffic exchange that will help you learn how to choose good TE from bad TE.
There you have it, 13 of the deadliest traffic exchange tragedies. Now let me ask you, would you still pay $7 for this book knowing what the report is all about?
Till next time, take care.
